‘Carmageddon: Rogue Shift’ Revs to February 7 Release [Trailer]
34BigThings’ revival of the Carmageddon franchise in Carmageddon: Rogue Shift will launch on February 7. And in addition to a new trailer, the developer spoke with PlayStation Blog, going into detail regarding the gameplay for the upcoming roguelite racer.
Head of Design for Rogue Shift, Giuseppe Enrico Franchi, explained that the team wanted to create a robust game loop “with a fast, accessible, but never trivial handling model at the core of it.” Unlike the previous entries in the series, Rogue Shift adopts a roguelite approach. Every Campaign run offers a unique journey through a randomly-generated graph. Not only will you have 15 unlockable vehicles with their own respective stats, you can also unlock 13 weapon classes and 80+ perks to create “outrageous synergies”.
Furthering the roguelite motif, the Carmageddon isn’t over when you wreck your ride. Instead, you’ll begin anew, retaining certain permanent bonuses you’ve unlocked. As you make it further with each subsequent run, the synergies and archetypes you craft with your weapons, car and perks will become all the more obvious.
