The horror genre has been a huge part of the awards conversation in recent months, largely thanks to the accomplishments of last year’s standouts Sinners, Frankenstein, and Weapons.

While we wait to see if any horror movies actually get Academy Awards nominations later this month, the horror genre did just win big at the Critics Choice Awards last night.

Of particular note, Amy Madigan took home the Critics Choice Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance as Aunt Gladys in Zach Cregger’s Weapons, while Jacob Elordi won Best Supporting Actor for his role as the Creature in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein.

Ryan Coogler’s vampire epic Sinners won four trophies at the Critics Choice Awards, including Best Young Actor/Actress (Miles Caton), Best Casting & Ensemble (Francine Maisler), Best Score (Ludwig Göransson), and Best Original Screenplay (Ryan Coogler).
