Digging up the best independent short horror films.
About Buried Films
Buried Films is a curated home for independent short horror films, with a strong focus on horror, suspense, and bold genre storytelling. It exists to surface films that left an impression on us and give them more room to be seen in a space that is often crowded and easy to get lost in.
Every film featured on Buried Films is embedded directly from its original source and credited to the filmmaker. We never reupload or take ownership of the work. The goal is always to point viewers back to the original film and the people who made it.
We are filmmakers ourselves, and we know how difficult it can be to get eyes on a short film after it is released. A lot of incredible work gets buried quickly, not because it lacks quality, but because of how fast content moves. This site was created to slow that down and give standout films a longer life.
We care most about originality, atmosphere, and clear creative intent. Budget matters far less than vision. Whether a film is unsettling, strange, funny, or tense, what matters is that it commits fully to what it is trying to be.
Buried Films is an ongoing project and will continue to grow. Alongside curated films, we plan to expand into genre news, a newsletter, filmmaker spotlights, and original content. At its core, though, it will always be about discovery and supporting the craft of short-form filmmaking.
If you have a short film you are proud of, or you have come across something that stuck with you, submissions are always open. We review everything and will reach out if a film feels like the right fit for Buried Films.
Thanks for supporting independent horror!
